The Italian Serie A football team will be hiring a female referee for the first time in the league’s history in the 2022-23 season.
Maria Sole Ferrieri Capti (31) was appointed by the league. In the 21-22 season, he was in charge of the Italian Cup Cagliari vs. Cittadella (2nd division) match. This was the first time a woman had served as a referee in a Serie A team match.
